Danda Nacha

Danda Nacha is a sacred 21-day penance ritual and folk performance unique to rural Odisha. Our trust supports the performers, documents the tradition, and ensures this dying art is preserved for generations to come.

This year we supported 12 Danda Nacha troupes across 3 districts. We provided financial assistance to performers, arranged accommodations during the 21-day period, and collaborated with a local university to create a video documentation archive of the entire ritual. Over 5,000 spectators witnessed the performances.
